AED / Defibrillator

Who should attend?
 
Persons who have attended a First Aid at Work course, or Appointed Persons course and will have access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). If you have or are intending to get an AED then this course is essential.
 
Aims and Objectives!
 
To refresh the basic resuscitation skills of the First aider and to extend their abilities in the chain of survival beyond the basic ABC's of First aid (Airway-Breathing-CPR). The candidates will be taught the safe use of an AED, including preparation of the casualty, basic maintenance and record keeping.
 
Benefits:
 
When a casualty suffers a Heart failure, then time becomes a major factor in their chances of survival, the early administration of defibrillation combined with CPR significantly increases the casualtys chances of survival. This training will ensure your First aiders have the knowledge, confidence and skills required to use an AED in an emergency.
 
Certification:
 
On successful completion of the course the candidate will receive a certificate in defibrillation, which will be valid for 1 year.

Introduction / registration / welcome
Primary / secondary assessments of casualty
CPR techniques
Preparation of casualty for De-fibrillation
Using the Defibillator
Maintenance and recording
Assessment of competence
Course debrief

This is a 1/2 day course for up to 12 students
